Conventional glass surface VS ETFE surface


The Hongwei factory currently has two products that are made using ETFE as the packaging material. ETFE solar charging panels have become one of the important trends in the development of solar energy technology in the future due to their lightness, portability and excellent performance. Not only in outdoor activities, but also in daily life. It uses ETFE as the surface encapsulation material, which makes it superior to traditional glass charging plates. Let's compare the traditional glass surface and ETFE surface to understand the characteristics and advantages of ETFE:

1. High temperature resistance:

Traditional glass surfaces may generate thermal stress in high temperature environments, affecting the stability of solar panels.

The surface of ETFE can easily withstand high temperature and volatile chemicals through coating, ensuring the durability of solar panels under extreme temperature conditions.

2. Light transmittance and conversion efficiency:

The surface of traditional glass hinders the sunlight from passing through to a certain extent, which may reduce the conversion efficiency of solar cells.

The surface of ETFE does not block ultraviolet rays at all, allowing the maximum amount of sunlight to penetrate the solar panel and improving the energy conversion efficiency of solar cells.

3. Anti-fouling and self-cleaning function:

Traditional glass surfaces tend to attract dust and grime and require regular cleaning to maintain performance.

The non-stick surface of ETFE washes away dust and dirt easily and cleans itself during rainfall, reducing maintenance costs and frequency.

4. Flexibility and applicability:

Traditional glass solar panels are relatively fragile and rigid, which limits their application range.

ETFE flexible solar panels have a certain degree of curvature, which can be applied to special scenes such as ships and RVs, and are more convenient to install, suitable for various building structures.

5. Sustainability:

Traditional glass resources are limited, and recycling and reuse are difficult.

Made from sustainable materials, ETFE is easily recycled and, due to its lightweight nature, reduces the carbon footprint of shipping.

As a material for the surface of solar panels, ETFE has the advantages of high temperature resistance, high light transmittance, anti-fouling self-cleaning function, flexible applicability and sustainability. Compared with the traditional glass surface, the application of ETFE coating can improve the performance of solar panels, and is suitable for more complex scenarios, which is in line with the development trend of future solar technology.
